On the 13th of December LIKTA (Latvian Information and Communication Technology Association) organized the Digital Competences Development System (DCDS) project seminar and expert discussion in Riga. Event participants had the opportunity to learn about the research carried out within the project, the developed training methodology and e-learning environment, the results of the pilot training, as well as the developed DCDS recommendations for policy makers.
The seminar was attended by more than 40 participants from the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development, State Employment Agency, Culture Information Systems Centre, Microsoft Latvia and representatives of educational institutions, libraries and adult learning centers from all over Latvia – Adazi, Aluksne, Balozi, Daugavpils, Jekabpils, Jelgava, Jurmala, Liepaja, Limbazi, Ogre, Olaine, Pampali, Preili, Riga, Smiltene, Stopini, Valmiera and Ventspils.
Participants showed high interest in the developed system and training methodology. Representatives from regional libraries and educational centres emphasized the importance of project target groups’ digital education and the need of systems like DCDS in rural regions.
During the expert discussions representatives from education sector took a closer look at the developed policy recommendation and acknowledged that the document has included the main points of successful policy development and supports the needs of the target group – citizens older than 25 years with low digital skills.
